1. Do I have to use a real email address?
316ctf no longer requires email addresses to be verified; however, if you sign up using an email address you do not have access to you will not be able to perform a password reset and 316ctf will not be able to verify your identity if you contact us to alter your account. You are at risk of losing access to your account and progress if you forget your fake email address or password.
If you sign up using a verified email address you will have access to password reset capabilities and 316ctf will be able to verify and assist on a best effort basis.
2. I am a teacher and would like to bulk register my students.
You can utilize the + email trick. For example, if your email address is brandon.p.grech@outlook.com, you could register your students as the following:
- brandon.p.grech+student1@outlook.com
- brandon.p.grech+student2@outlook.com
- brandon.p.grech+student3@outlook.com
- brandon.p.grech+student4@outlook.com
- ...
There is no limit to how many student accounts you can create.
Distribute the email address (username) and password you created for each student to each of your students as you see fit.
Some email providers such as Gmail and Outlook ignore the plus symbol and after; however, this may differ for your institution's email. For example, the + email trick does not work for andersonuniversity.edu email accounts last time I tried.
3. I would like my account to not be listed on the scorebard. How can I make that happen?
This is a common question from teachers who want to attempt challenges; however, not be on the scoreboard. Email bgrech@andersonuniversity.edu from the email address utilized in registration to sign up with this request and your account will not be seen on the scoreboard.
